HMEC OPEN DAYS / Machinery Expo
HMEC OPEN DAYS/A Machinery Expo
On February 15-16, 2012, Hitachi Construction Machinery Middle East Corporation FZE (HMEC) presented their first HMEC OPEN DAYS/Machinery Expo. The red carpet was literally rolled out as dealers, trading houses, and customers from across the Middle East and North Africa region registered at the HMEC headquarters in Dubai, UAE.
With morning refreshments and a lunch buffet provided by Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa, this was a first class event bringing together the best of the best in the construction machinery industry. From San Francisco, California, emcee Julie Ow introduced the President of Hitachi Construction Machinery Middle East Corporation, Mr. Mutsumi Kitai to launch the event. Mr. Kitai shared his appreciation for all attendees who traveled from near and far. “Your presence today has already made this event a success,” shared Kitai.
The first machine demonstration was the self assembling 200 ton Hitachi Sumitomo Crawler Crane SCX 2000A-2. Engineers from Hitachi Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Crane Company (HSC), Mr. Takahashi and Mr. Watanabe, and HMEC’s crane engineer, Mr. Kamel Ali gave an effortless demonstrations of the self assembling hook and pin designed side frame, and the mounting of the 80.6 ton self-installing counterweights.
To celebrate HMEC’s 5 year anniversary in the Middle East and the sale of their 200th crane sold in this region, the HSC 200 ton Crawler Crane SCX2000A-2 was painted gold. The lustrous gold colored machine is also a model of support for eastern Japan's quake and tsunami stricken areas. The right side of SCX2000A-2 sported a decal of the Japanese national flag along with the slogan, "Cheer for Japan." This uniquely decorated crane represents world support for Japan’s speedy resurgence and recovery.
Other demonstrations over the two days included the HSC UCX 350 Crawler Crane and the Hitachi Hydraulic Mini Excavator ZX60USB-3F. UCX 350 Crawler Crane demonstrated lifting and traveling, exhibiting its unique 15 degree grade ability. Mini Excavator ZX60USB-3F showed off its left/right boom swing movements and its specialized short turning radius.
During the catered lunch, guests were treated to a demonstration of ikebana, the art of designing japanese floral arrangements. The HMEC warehouse was adorned with several exotic flower arrangements created by students from the Koryu School Ikebana. Ikebana Koryu instructor, Mizuho Sone educated the guests on the spiritual aspects of this ancient form of floral design. The unexpected demonstration brought the essence of Japan to this Dubai construction machinery gathering.
HMEC OPEN DAYS transformed another business venue into a fun, memorable and educational affair. Once again, President Kitai and his HMEC staff continue to set the highest bar of excellence demonstrating to the construction industry how people and machines together will build a better world.
